Seljuk-era origin
According to the hammam's official historical account, the building dates to 1202, a period associated with the reign of Seljuk Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat.

Flood and closure
The hammam's own history describes a later period during which the building fell out of use following flooding at the site.
1726
Ottoman-period restoration
The official account records a restoration of the building during the Ottoman period in 1726, returning the hammam to active use.
Today
A visitor-facing historical hammam
The building continues today as a working Turkish bath in Avanos — one of the few in the region where guests can enter a stone structure with a documented centuries-long relationship to bathing.
