- What is a traditional Turkish hammam?
- A hammam is a bathing house built around a central heated marble platform, surrounded by domed chambers, arches and small alcoves with marble basins. The rhythm of the visit — warmth, water, rest — is one of the oldest bathing traditions in Anatolia.
- Do I need to bring anything?
- You do not need to bring anything special. We provide a traditional pestemal, towel, bathrobe, slippers and the personal-care essentials required for your ritual. Lockable changing lockers are available. You may bring swimwear if you prefer, but it is not required.
- Can couples receive their treatments side by side?
- Yes. Couples can enjoy the ritual side by side. Private halvet washing rooms with curtained entrances are available for a more discreet shared experience; tell our team when you reserve so the right arrangement can be confirmed.
- Are the women’s and men’s sections mixed?
- A completely separate private hammam section is available for women who require full privacy. In shared-use areas, reservations are carefully arranged so guests who do not know each other are not placed side by side. Bathrobes are required in common relaxation areas.
- Can I request a female or male therapist?
- Yes. Female therapists attend female guests and male therapists attend male guests, and you are welcome to state a preference when you reserve. Please share it at the time of booking so our team can confirm the arrangement for your slot.
- Who are your therapists?
- Our team brings together Turkish therapists and therapists who came to us from Bali, Indonesia. Each is a certified specialist in their craft, and they continue to train while they are with us — in occupational safety, first aid and health. Their certificates can be seen at the hammam.
- Does Alaaddin Hamam have private rooms?
- Yes. Private rooms are available for guests who want a completely exclusive and discreet hammam or massage experience. The Sultan package includes a private VIP suite for you or you and your partner.
- How does the complimentary transfer work?
- Complimentary round-trip transfer is included with every package. Basic: Free transfer in select areas for 2+ guests. Please confirm your pickup area in advance. Premium and Sultan include round-trip transfer across Cappadocia. Share your hotel and preferred time so our team can confirm pickup.
- Do I need to pay before my visit?
- No prepayment or online deposit is required. Simply share your preferred date and time and wait for confirmation from our team. You pay at reception when you arrive. Credit cards are accepted, and cash in Turkish lira, euros, US dollars or pounds sterling.
- How do I reserve a visit?
- The most direct way to reserve is by WhatsApp using the reservation button on this website. You may also call or email the hammam directly.
- Is the hammam a medical or therapeutic treatment?
- No. The Turkish hammam is a cultural bathing tradition. Local stories reference the historic well beneath the building, but the hammam does not offer medical or therapeutic services.
- Where exactly is the hammam located?
- The hammam is in the Orta neighbourhood of Avanos, within the wider Cappadocia region of Türkiye. Full directions are provided on the Plan Your Visit page.
- Where is the best Turkish bath in Cappadocia?
- That depends on where you are staying and what you want from the visit. Alaaddin Hamam is a historic bathhouse in Avanos, in the middle of the region, and complimentary transfer is included with every package. Basic requires at least two guests, and every pickup area is confirmed in advance.
- Is there a hammam near Göreme?
- Alaaddin Hamam is a short drive from Göreme, and complimentary round-trip transfer is included with every package. Basic requires at least two guests; share your hotel so the pickup area and time can be confirmed in advance.
- Can I visit the hammam from Ürgüp, Uçhisar or Ortahisar?
- Yes. All three are within a short drive, and complimentary round-trip transfer is included with every package. Basic requires at least two guests, and the pickup area and time must be confirmed in advance.
- When is the best time to visit a hammam in Cappadocia?
- The evening, after a day on the valleys and the rock sites. Most guests come between late afternoon and closing, and that is also when the bathhouse is at its most comfortable in summer.
