A devastating flood in the heart of Cappadocia temporarily dimmed the hammam’s glow, sealing its doors for many years.
But the Alaaddin Hammam was destined to rise from its ashes. During the Ottoman period, it was meticulously restored for the first time in 1726, breathing new life into the structure. However, fate intervened once more, and this unique building fell silent until the modern era.

Hidden deep within the very ground the hammam stands is an ancient secret: a water well recognized as “healing water” since Roman times. For centuries, the clear waters gushing from this land have brought physical healing and spiritual peace to bodies and souls. After a long wait, 2025 marked a new beginning for the Alaaddin Hammam. Reopened through a “Restoration for Lease Model,” the hammam was virtually resurrected with a massive investment, meticulously restored to its original glory. The spirit of 800 years of history was carefully preserved in every stone, every dome. Every material used, every technique applied, aimed to carry this unique structure into the future while staying true to the spirit of Seljuk architecture.

An Architectural Dream, Mysterious Stone Passages
When you step through the doors of the Alaaddin Hammam, you enter not just a building, but a dream world where past and mysticism intertwine. Every corner of this architectural masterpiece whispers age-old secrets, enchanting you with unique sections that take you on a journey through time.
Your first stop is the Cold Room (Soğukluk), the starting point that opens to the heart of the hammam. Here, you are greeted by the warmth of a historic fireplace, and the mystical atmosphere envelops you, pulling you into a story from centuries ago. The Transition Section after the Cold Room is like a corridor of secrets. As you wander through the exhibition area, stories etched into the walls whisper, preparing you for the changing rooms and leading you deeper into the hammam.
Next is the Warm Room (Ilıklık), a oasis where peace and purification begin. While relaxing to the sound of water in the historic ornamental pool, a vitamin bar where you can enjoy hot and cold beverages, private showers, and saunas complete this section. And finally, you reach the hammam’s Hot Room (Sıcaklık), the Warmest Hammam. Here, you’ll find private cubicles (halvet cells) for individual washing, tranquil eyvan areas, and the hot marble slab (gobek taşı). The mystical dance of water and steam purifies your body and soul. For our female guests, the second hammam, the Women’s Hammam, offers a similar purification ritual, designed with the same care, including a marble slab, halvet cells, eyvans, and a private sauna.

Located in the historic hammam’s garden, this special cafe offers a unique relaxation stop in Cappadocia with its menu blending traditional and modern tastes.
